Calumet College of Saint Joseph’s Criminal Justice program is noted for our real-world experience in the many areas of criminal justice.Â
Our faculty have years of experience and close contacts in law and police departments throughout Chicago and Northwest Indiana. As a student, you’ll work with these professionals in the field and make the contacts you need to move right into the kind of job you want after you graduate. Our graduates serve in almost every Police Department in the region, as well as state and federal offices, probation offices and security firms.Â
In the Criminal Justice program, you will
- master the skills and knowledge you need to be successful as a correctional officer, police officer, probation officer, attorney or judge
- understand the criminal justice system at the local, state and federal levels
- know how judicial and correctional processes and legal institutions workÂ
- learn to think critically about the ethical issues of criminal justice, particularly questions of social justice, social responsibility and decision-making

Objectives and requirements
Upon completion of this program, students will:
- Demonstrate mastery of the theories, principles and practices of criminal justice, including constitutional principles, judicial and correctional processes, legal institutions, and methods of law enforcement;
- Have a general understanding and appreciation of the role of the criminal justice system at local, state, and federal levels; and
- Demonstrate knowledge of appropriate codes of professional ethics and the capability to critically and reflectively engage ethical issues in criminal justice, particularly questions of social responsibility and professional decision-making.
